We are in Kreuzberg, the so-called trendy district of Berlin. The alternative streets of the district are marked by the graffiti, cafes & bars, the mix between old and modern buildings. Around one third of the residents of Kreutzberg are immigrants – most of them have Turkish roots. Upon arriving in the city in the 1960s the foreign workers formed a tight-knit community. More than 50 years later, the gentrification has also found its way here, but unmistakably the face of this district is still dominated by its oriental flair. This is what one finds in the streets everywhere: the hairdressers and barbers Berlin. Some of them kept inconspicuous and simple, often only known to regular customers. While other salons have a more modern twist or have a trashy eighties style in the salons.
